The December Junior Duck of the Month is Ryan Sarvak from the Pee Wee A1 team.
Ryan was nominated by his coach for being the ultimate team player. He never complains and works very hard in practice. He is a very polite and considerate player and the past month has really been a breakout for him. He's starting playing with confidence and leads his team defensively. He has improved tremendously and continues to make good decisions on the ice.

September Junior Duck of the Month - Boogie Aceves
Boogie Aceves, from the Junior Ducks Mite B team has been chosen as the Junior Duck of the Month for September. Boogie has displayed tremendous leadership, hardwork, and sportsmanship since the team started in August. A pleasure to coach both, Boogie exemplifies a work ethic that is rarely seen in this age group (8 years old) and he always does it with a smile on his face either in game or practice. Boogie started out in The Rinks Anaheim ICE Initiation and in house programs and is a first year Junior Duck. |

S.M. Ice Hockey Team Packs 50,000 meals for kids in Haiti
On Saturday the SMCHS ice hockey team hung up the skates for hair nets as they packed over 50,000 meals for hungry kids in Haiti. The team volunteered for “Kids Around the World”, a non-profit organization who hosted a food packing event at Saddleback College Saturday morning. The organization sends food packets consisting of rice, vegetables and protein to feed orphans in earthquake ravaged Haiti.
Both Varsity and JV teams and their families came out in force as they represented Santa Margarita Catholic High School and the NHL Ducks who sponsor their team at the event. “This is a worthwhile project and our kids embraced the opportunity” said Assistant Coach Mitch O’Brien. “It is an amazing feeling to see all those meals being packed and our kids working together to get it done” he added.

Anaheim Lady Ducks players have been selected to attend the 18u Women's USA Hockey National Team Camp this August. Annie Pankowski (1994, Junior) and Kaliya Johnson (1994, Senior) were selected to the 26 player camp next month. The 18u team will be challenged as they train and compete in Lake Placid, NY against the 22u candidates and the Women's National Team candidates. The 18u squad will be cut to 22 players prior to the USA vs. Canada series that follows the camp. This is Annie's second year being selected.
Annie and Kaliya, Lady Ducks since age 9, are both poised to represent their country in the USA - Canada Series and hopefully continue to the IIHF 18u Women's World Championships later in the 2011-2012 season.
