Dave is originally from Regina, Saskatchewan, played his youth hockey throughout Saskatchewan, including Midget AAA in Regina before making the move directly to the NCAA. He played Division 1 in the ECAC for the Princeton University Tigers, where he was captain his senior year.

Coach Scowby emphasizes youth development to enable players to play at the next level. He is USA Hockey Advanced Level Certified – coached for the New Jersey Rockets, New Jersey Kings and operated an ice arena in central New Jersey prior to his first coaching stint with the San Diego Gulls.

Dave was previously our head coach of our Bantam and Midget program, taking teams to CAHA Regionals and with current coach Noah Babin, earned a spot at Nationals (Bantam). He has coached many of our Jr Gulls Alumni – Thatcher Demko, Reed Kinsey, Tyler Moy, Alec McCrea , Kyle Rimbach and Nate Kallen.
