TWO JR DUCKS AND TWO OCHC TEAMS ADVANCE TO TIER II STATES

Two Anaheim Jr. Ducks teams and two Orange County Hockey Club teams advanced out of Tier II playdowns on Sunday to reach to the CAHA State Tournament, which will be held March 15-17 at Ice-Plex Escondido.

Jr. Ducks teams at 16U and 18U moved on, as did OCHC’s 16U-1 team and its 14U team.

The Jr. Ducks’ 18U team, coached by Mike Perkins, defeated the Ontario Jr. Reign, 8-0, on Friday and the Bakersfield Jr. Condors, 8-0, on Saturday at Iceoplex Simi Valley.

The Jr. Ducks’ 16U-I team, coached by Jeff Noviello, won two of three games at Simi Valley to punch its ticket to state. The 16s defeated Empire, 4-2, lost to OCHC-1, 3-1, before defeating the Ventura Mariners, 4-0.

OCHC’s 16U-1 team, coached by Josh Newton, also defeated the San Diego Jr. Gulls, 7-2, in advancing.

OCHC’s 14U team, coached by Scott Shand, bounced back from a 4-3 loss to the California Wave to defeat the LA Jr. Kings, 8-1 and the Jr. Ducks 14U-2 team, 6-0, at Vacaville Ice.

The Jr. Ducks also had two teams reach playdowns at 12U.
