Former Anaheim Jr. Ducks defenseman Slava Demin has been selected to play for the 2017 U.S. Under-18 Select Team that will compete in the prestigious Ivan Hlinka Cup next month in the Czech Republic.

Demin played this past season with Wenatchee of the British Columbia Hockey League, finishing with 32 points as a rookie. Along the way he committed to 2017 NCAA champion Denver to play college hockey beginning in 2018.

The 6-foot-1 Demin, 2000 birth year, is one of 10 former Jr. Ducks to make Division I college commitments in the past three years. He played three years of AAA hockey for the Jr. Ducks at the Bantam and Midget 16U AAA levels. He helped the Bantam AAA team reach the USA Hockey Nationals in 2015.

This won’t be Demin’s first international competition for Team USA. Last August he competed for the United States in the U17 Five Nations Tournament. He also participated in USA Hockey’s National Team Development Evaluation Camp in spring of 2016.
