Kemps and Burick have made D-I college commitments.

There’s a strong possibility the Anaheim Jr. Ducks will make a sizeable impression at the 2026 NHL Entry Draft.

The NHL Central Scouting Service listed two former Jr. Ducks in their preliminary draft rankings, released this week.

The duo – defensemen Jonas Kemps and Sean Burick – measure more than a combined 13 feet tall. Kemps, who is playing for the Chicago Steel of the United States Hockey League (USHL), is 6-foot-6, while Burick, who plays for Penticton of the Western Hockey League, is 6-foot-8. Kemps was rated a B prospect, meaning he is projected to be drafted in the second or third rounds. Burick was rated a C prospect, meaning his draft projection is in Round 4 or 5.

Kemps, who has committed to Michigan State and is expected to join the Spartans in 2027, was a member of the Jr. Ducks 15O AAA team during the 2023-24 season. He scored 46 points, including 15 goals, in 73 games and helped the team reach the CAHA State championship game.

Kemps, who is an excellent skater for his size, then became the first Jr. Ducks player to go directly from the club to the U.S. National Team Development Program, where he played for the U17 team last season and participated in the Four Nations Cup. Kemps, who had eight points in 79 games with the NTDP, moved to Chicago of the USHL this season.

Burick, a University of Denver commit who played three seasons for the Jr. Ducks as a young player, is playing his first season of junior hockey.

The 2026 draft will be held next summer and include players born from late 2005 through 2008.
