Eleven players with ties to the Lady Ducks helped Team USA win the 2024 World Skate Games Inline Hockey World Championship in mid-September in Roccaraso, Italy.
The U.S. team defeated Spain, 2-1, for its first gold in the event since 2019.
Former Lady Ducks coach Laura Veharanta, who captained the team, scored the winning goal midway through the second period. She had seven points in six games.
She was joined by seven former LDs players — Brooke Bryant, Daniella Dror, Tanner Gates, Celeste Loyatho, Tia Stoddard, Makenzie Williams and Ariane Yokoyama. LDs coach Jen Friedman and former coaches Sara Bier and Jolee Savoy also were part of the gold-medal-winning team.
For the tournament, Stoddard had eight points (four goals), Bryant had four goals, and Yokokoyama added three assists.
Team USA went 6-0 in the tournament, winning three round-robin games by a cumulative 16-5. It then blanked Namibia, 6-0, in a quarterfinal, and edged France, 4-3, in the semifinals.
