Twenty-nine hockey players with ties to the Anaheim Jr. Ducks and Lady Ducks are participating in USA Hockey National Player Development Camps beginning this week.

The group includes 12 players who were members of Jr. Ducks and Lady Ducks teams during the 2023-24 season. There were 22 Jr. Ducks and seven Lady Ducks in the overall group.

22 Jr. Ducks Invited to National Camps

The 22 Jr. Ducks players include eight 2009 birth years who will participate in the Boys National 15 camp at Amherst, N.Y., on July 17-22.

That group is comprised of forwards Gavin Burcar, Daniel Greenbaum, Mason Moreland and Jordan Tran, defensemen George Benson, Rey Aidan De Rama and Parker Schellenberg, and goaltender Evan Enck.

They formed the nucleus of the Jr. Ducks 14U AAA team that won CAHA and Pacific District championships in the spring. Burcar, Enck, Moreland and Schellenberg were selected in the Western Hockey League's U.S. Priority Draft in May.

Nine 2008 birth years, including 15U AAA defenseman Jonas Kemps, who became the first Jr. Ducks player to go directly from the club to the prestigious U.S. National Team Development Program, are among the invites to the Boys 16s camp on July 9-15 at Amherst.

Kemps will be joined by former Jr. Ducks Sean Burick, Gavin Clarke, Noah Davidson, Kingston Du, Steven Khonroo, Alofa Tunoa Tunoa Ta'amu, Odin Vauhkonen, and Zane Torre.  Burick, Ta'amu, and Vauhkonen are defensemen, while the rest are forwards. Davidson and Vauhkonen also were invited to the NTDP tryout camp.  Burick, Davidson, Torre and Vauhkonen were selected in the United States Hockey League's Phase I Draft in May.

Five former Jr. Ducks were chosen for the National 17 Festival, which began June 25 at Amherst. Team USA's Hlinka Gretzky Cup team will be picked from that camp.

The five 2007s include defensemen Caden Campion, who played for the USHL's Chicago Steel this past season, and Clarke Nehmens. Forwards Rui Han, Hayden Russell, and Max Silver also garnered invites.

Seven LDs Earn National Camp Invites

The seven Lady Ducks included a trio of 2009s who played for the 14U AAA team — defenseman Taryn Montgomery, forward Cadence Liu, and goaltender Anousheh Barjasteh-Mohebbi.

They and former LD forward Brooke Schlutter and Keilani Sievers will participate in the Girls 15s camp at Oxford, Ohio from July 23-30.

Two longtime 2008 Lady Ducks, defenseman Gigi Martin and forward Annika Stock, will participate in the Girls 16/17s camp at Oxford from July 19-24.
