The Anaheim Lady Ducks 10U A team captured a Silver Stick International championship on Feb. 4 in the Toronto area.

It marked the second time since 2020 that one of coach Vicky Wang's teams brought home the prestigious title.

"It's great for the club and great for these girls to experience this," Wang said. "The team showed a lot of perseverance all tournament."

The Lady Ducks captures the 2013 birth year A division by defeating the North Halton (Ontario) Twisters, 1-0, in overtime. The LDs scored in the first minute of the three-on-three extra session.

"It was an exciting finish. The girls possessed the puck, got a good shot and scored on a rebound," Wang said.

The Lady Ducks reached the final after defeating the Peterborough Ice Kats, 4-1, in a semifinal. The LDs finished as the top seed in their division after posting a 2-0-1 round-robin record and fashioning a plus-five goal differential in the process.

The irony of the championship game victory was Wang's 12U AAA team defeated the same Twisters program for a tournament championship in Rochester, N.Y., in November.

"History repeated itself," Wang said.
