The Anaheim Jr. Ducks have promoted longtime coach David Walker to Tier 2 Director of Coaches.

Walker, who is entering his ninth season of coaching with the club, has directed two AAA teams to berths at the USA Hockey Youth Nationals and served as an assistant coach on a third Nationals-bound Jr. Ducks team. In addition, his teams have won four CAHA State championships.

Walker, who again will serve as the head coach of the 15U AAA team this coming season, played professionally for nine seasons, including seven in California with the Long Beach Ice Dogs and Ontario Reign (then of the ECHL). A highly productive defenseman, he scored between 28 and 42 points in every full season he played for Ontario, and his teams reached the postseason five times.

"David has great hockey knowledge and he played the game at a high level," said Jr. Ducks Director of Coaches Craig Johnson. "He will add a lot to our program with both his knowledge and his pleasant demeanor."

Walker, who hold a Level 4 coaching certification from USA Hockey, also serves as the Hockey Manager for Great Park ICE and Five Points Arena in Irvine.

"When I got into coaching and then when I took the job at Great Park I said this is because I'm committed to hockey in general in Southern California," Walker said. "Growing up in Canada, I had a lot of people help me along the way in the game. This is my way of giving back and helping it grow any way I can."
