Forward Brett Roloson, who played 12U and 14U for the Anaheim Jr. Ducks, recently committed to play college hockey at Lake Superior State.

Roloson, a late 2000 birth year, becomes the 27th player with ties to the club to make an NCAA Division I commitment during the past seven seasons.

Roloson played for the Jr. Ducks while his father, longtime NHL goaltender Dwayne, served as a goaltending consultant for the Anaheim Ducks.

Brett Roloson is coming off his best season of junior hockey. The 6-foot-1, 170-pounder scored 42 points, including 20 goals, in 52 games for the Powell River Kings and Merritt Centennials of the British Columbia Hockey League. He had 26 of those points in 33 games after Powell River acquired him via trade.

His point and goal totals were huge jumps from the 2018-19 season, when he totaled 10 points (five goals) in 52 games for Merritt.

Brett’s younger brother Ross, another former Jr. Duck, will begin his junior career in Powell River this season.

His father played 606 NHL games for six teams until he retired in 2012 and went to work for the Ducks. Fans might remember Dwayne once suited up as emergency backup for the Ducks for a Nov. 2, 2014 game against Colorado when John Gibson sustained an injury during warm-ups.
