Longtime Anaheim Jr. Ducks player Cam York competed for Team USA at the recently completed 2020 World Junior Championships, which were held at Ostrava and Trinec, Czech Republic.
 
York played in every game for the Americans, who reached the quarterfinals before losing to Finland, 1-0.
 
York was the youngest defenseman on the Team USA roster. Last June York was selected 14th overall in the NHL Entry Draft by the Philadelphia Flyers and in the process became the highest-drafted California-born and –trained player. 
 
York, a 2001 birth year who played for the Jr. Ducks all the way through Bantams, is in his freshman season at the University of Michigan. He has nine points in 14 games and leads all Wolverines freshmen and defensemen in scoring. 
 
Long-time Jr. Ducks teammate Ryan Johnson, like York a first-round draft pick in June (by the Buffalo Sabres), was one of the last cuts by Team USA. Johnson is a freshman at the University of Minnesota. Both players have represented Team USA at various international competitions during the past three years.
 
The duo are part of what was a wildly successful 2001 birth year group for the Jr. Ducks. Eight players from that team already have made college commitments, including Dominique Petrie, who is a freshman at Harvard and has helped Team USA capture gold medals twice at the Women’s Under-18 World Championships.
