CLIMBING THE HOCKEY LADDER
The Jr. Ducks’ monthly player seminar debuts Sept. 24


There are more options than ever for youth hockey players in Southern California, and the Jr. Ducks are providing another tool to help you navigate the process of ascending in the game by conducting monthly seminars led by subject-matter experts.  Among the topics the seminars will cover during the course of the season are advancing to and thriving in AAA hockey, the prep school question, the role junior hockey plays in pushing your career forward and the various outlets to play in college (NCAA Division I and III and ACHA). The first seminar is coming up soon, so don’t delay your RSVP.

WHERE: The Niedermayer Classroom (look for Optimum Hockey Academy logo) at Rink 1 at Great Park Ice in Irvine


THIS MONTH'S SPEAKER AND TOPIC: Jr. Ducks Director of Player Personnel and 16U AAA coach Alex Kim will present an overview and field your questions about the various pathways and options available to youth hockey players today.

ABOUT THE SPEAKER: The California native has an extensive background in playing, coaching, scouting and player advancement. Alex played 11 seasons of professional hockey in the United States, Europe and Asia after four years of NCAA Division I hockey at Miami and Colorado College. Prior to that he played junior in the United State Hockey League, the Tier I junior league in the United States. Alex also serves as the USHL’s Head Scout and is well connected in the junior and college hockey worlds. He has coached Jr. Ducks’ 16U AAA teams to the USA Hockey Nationals in four of the past five seasons. The club has had 21 players make Division I commitments during that time and has placed dozens more at the D III, ACHA and junior levels.
